Hello friends ~

The Chicagoland Swing and Country Dance Festival has a reputation for being a friendly, happy dance event. One of the secrets to that reputation is our experienced, talented and friendly volunteer staff.  Honestly, I don’t know what we’d do without you!  Once again we’re looking for friendly, happy, service-oriented folks to be event volunteers.

Some of you have helped in the past and I hope you can join us again this year.  Others are new, so let’s review the possibilities.

We are offering a free weekend pass in exchange for 8-9 hours of help in the following areas:

  • Ballroom Monitor (checking for wristbands at the door and being generally helpful)
  • Workshop Monitor (checking for wristbands, taking tickets and again, being generally helpful)
  • Floor Installation and Tear-Down (starts on Thursday about 3P and takes about 4 hours; tear down goes faster and begins at the conclusion of the event)
  • Videotaping (work with the good folks at Apex video to record performances of competitors)
  • Hospitality (help keep the staff fed and watered)
  • Miscellaneous  (tasks too varied to mention)


This list does not include setting up the skyline as members of Swing ‘n Country provide that skilled service for us.  We are so grateful for their help and expertise!  (Yes – we’ll bring the beer again!)

Some of you have significant others and friends who volunteer, too.  If I didn’t include them in this e-mail, please let me know if they’ll be helping this year…and include their first/last names. 

As we pull things together for this year, I’d like to know your preferred volunteer activity.  I’ve talked with several of you, but this is your OFFICIAL chance to tell me what you’d like to do.

If you’d like to volunteer, please respond to this e-mail me at dancemaxx@comcast.net and include your areas of interest and the times when you are available.  If you’re competing, just let me know which division(s) and I’ll work around your competition schedule.
